Baby Dedication Sunday at Encounter Church

A Commitment to Raise the Next Generation for Christ

Held the Last Sunday of Every Month - Service begins at 10:00 am

Baby Dedication is a special moment for parents and families to publicly commit their child to the Lord and dedicate themselves to raising their son or daughter according to God's Word. It is a celebration of gratitude, faith, and the responsibility God has entrusted to parents to nurture their children in the knowledge and love of Christ.

At Encounter Church, we believe children are a gift from the Lord, and we are honored to partner with families as they dedicate their little ones to Him.

"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."Proverbs 22:6

What Is Baby Dedication?

Baby Dedication is not salvation or baptism. It is a public commitment made by parents and the church family to pray for, encourage, and help raise children in a Christ-centered home.

Just as Hannah dedicated Samuel to the Lord (1 Samuel 1:27–28) and Mary and Joseph presented Jesus at the temple (Luke 2:22), we follow the biblical example of dedicating our children to God and trusting Him with their lives.

During the dedication, parents commit to:

  • Raising their child according to God's Word
  • Modeling a life of faith and prayer
  • Teaching their child about Jesus
  • Partnering with the church to help nurture their spiritual growth

As a church family, we also commit to praying for and supporting these families as their children grow in faith.

Who Can Participate?

Baby Dedication is designed for newborns through approximately 6 years of age. Whether your child is just a few weeks old or entering school, we invite your family to participate in this meaningful celebration.

Baby Dedication vs. Baptism

While both are significant milestones, they serve different purposes.

Baby Dedication is a parent's commitment to raise their child for the Lord.

Believer's Baptism is a personal decision made by someone who has placed their faith in Jesus Christ and is publicly declaring that faith through baptism.

Throughout Scripture, baptism follows an individual's personal decision to believe in Christ (Acts 2:41). Because of this, we encourage children to be baptized when they are old enough to understand the Gospel, personally place their faith in Jesus, and choose to follow Him.

What to Expect

During Baby Dedication Sunday, parents and children will be invited to the front of the sanctuary where one of our pastors will pray a special blessing over your family. This is a beautiful opportunity to celebrate God's faithfulness with your church family and mark this important milestone together.

"Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him."Psalm 127:3
